Fire salamander

The fire salamander, salamander or common salamanderYellow-spotted (Salamandra salamandra) is a species ofsalamander in the Salamandridae family. It is well known regionallyfor saramela, or saramantiga salamaganta.
Your skin is characteristic of black with yellow spots. They measurebetween 14 and 20 cm in length. The larvae are aquatic but theadult is terrestrial.





Toxicity


Salamanders are able to defend themselves actively from predators. Adopt anti-predatory postures and are capable of freeingthe skin, a toxic substance called samandrina. This substance is analkaloid that causes muscle convulsions and high blood pressurecombined with hyperventilation. The venom glands are concentrated in the neck and dorsal surface. The most colorful areas of the animalusually coincide with the location of these glands.
