Founded in 1711 as Vila Rica do Albuquerque, Ouro Preto today contains the largest collection of baroque archicture in Brazil.The city was declared "Cultura Heritage of Mankind" by Unesco in 1980.It is located about 100 km from Belo horizonte, high in the moutains.So, the climate there is mild,with temperatures renging from 2°C to 28°C.
